Terms of Use

These Terms of Use apply to placeyourown.ca (the "Site"), operated by Place Your Own Real Estate Ad Here Inc., Brokerage (the "Brokerage", "we", "us"). The Brokerage is registered with the Real Estate Council of Ontario ("RECO") under the Trust in Real Estate Services Act, 2002 ("TRESA"). Its Broker of Record is Robin Kirstein. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. Who we are

All real estate services described on the Site are provided by the Brokerage and its registered brokers and salespersons. You can confirm our registration on RECO's public register at registrantsearch.reco.on.ca.

2. Using the Site doesn't make you our client

Reading the Site, sending a text, email or enquiry form, or using a calculator does not create a client relationship. Under TRESA you become a client only when you sign a written representation agreement with the Brokerage. Until then you are a self-represented party, and we can't give you advice or keep your information confidential the way we would for a client. Please don't send confidential details (for example, the most you'd pay) until we have spoken. Before we provide services to you, we will give you RECO's Information Guide and explain it.

3. Team members who are not registered

Some people shown on the Site, such as real estate students or office staff, are not registered with RECO. They are identified as not registered wherever they appear. They cannot trade in real estate, give real estate advice, or act for anyone in a transaction. Only registered brokers and salespersons of the Brokerage do those things.

4. Listings

Listing details (price, size, rooms, taxes, lot size, photos and descriptions) are provided in good faith and believed accurate when posted, but they are not guaranteed and can change without notice. Verify every fact that matters to you before relying on it. Floor plans and measurements are approximate.

Some listings on the Site are listed by other brokerages. Where that is so, the listing brokerage is named on the listing with its contact information, and we show the property only with the seller's written consent.

5. Calculators and articles

Our mortgage, affordability and land transfer tax calculators give estimates based on published government and CMHC rates. They are not mortgage, tax, legal or financial advice. Your lender, mortgage broker, lawyer and accountant will give you the real numbers. Articles and market notes are general information, not advice for your situation.

6. No guarantee of results

Nothing on the Site promises a sale price, a speed of sale, the success of an offer or the future value of a property.

7. Multiple representation

Sometimes the Brokerage may act for more than one party in the same transaction. If that happens, we will explain it and get every client's written consent first, as TRESA requires.

8. Trademarks

MLS^®, Multiple Listing Service^® and the associated logos are trademarks owned by The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and identify the quality of services provided by real estate professionals who are members of CREA.

9. Content and copying

The Site's text, photos, graphics and design belong to the Brokerage or to others who have given permission. You may view them for your own personal use. You may not copy, republish, scrape or use them to train any software or AI model without our written permission.

10. Links to other websites

Links to other websites (for example RECO, government sites or other brokerages' listings) are for convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them.

11. Privacy

How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Analytics & Tracking Policy.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the Brokerage is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these Terms limits our obligations to clients under TRESA, its regulations or the RECO Code of Ethics, or any right you have that the law does not allow us to limit.

13. Ontario law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes about the Site belong in the courts of Ontario.

14. Concerns about our service

Please raise any concern with our Broker of Record first, using the details below. 15. Changes

We may update these Terms. The new version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
